Working the same rate with the same outcome day in and day out will get you consistent results; however, consistent results will not get you ahead in the business world. To be successful in any work that you do, you need to be able to increase productivity when circumstances call for it. There are several things you can do that will improve your organization skills and boost your productivity on the job.

Instructions

    • 1

Start your work day by making a prioritized to-do list. Certain things at work need to be completed on a daily basis, but new things always come up. It is important to have all of your tasks mapped out, giving priority to the tasks that have the closest deadlines.

    • 2

Check email and voice mail at work only twice or three times a day. Constantly checking email is a distraction that zaps precious time from your work day that you should be using to get actual work done.

    • 3

Reevaluate your to-do list at about halfway through your work day to see how you are doing. Make sure you are on track to accomplish all that you need to do, revise your list as needed and get back to work.

    • 4

Avoid taking on any more projects then you can easily handle during your work day. One of the ways to get productivity off track is to overschedule yourself. Only add to your tasks at hand when you know you can finish the job without adding headache to your day.

    • 5

Keep a clean, organized work surface. Decide where things belong and return them to their place when you are no longer using them. Do the same with your electronic desktop so you don't waste time searching for documents, tools or files.
